We Spent Week 4 in Nashville! Playing Catch-up On a Bathroom Reno

Week Four….we spent in Nashville Tennessee celebrating my 50th birthday! We had two days at home after my week three update and managed to install the new toilet, get the wires pulled for the lighting, install the new hardware on the vanity, which can I just say was a game changer? The vanity came with chrome hardware which wasn’t really my thing. Liberty Hardware generously sent me this beautiful new “Soft Iron” hardware that I absolutely love.

So we literally just got home last night and i’m feeling the heat!

One easy little DIY I tackled just before our trip and while waiting for the wallpaper to arrive - the wallpaper that I miscalculated for in my original order, ugh - was to remove the ceiling vent cover and clean it and freshen it up. I mean why do they only sell these things in white? I always have my favourite Rustoleum spray paint on hand so I gave it a nice coat of matte black paint and it looks brand new! Sometimes it’s the little things like this that make the biggest impact.

We also managed to install our new toilet from American Standard on the day before we left on our trip. You might remember me mentioning in week one that our entire bathroom pre-reno felt like it had been designed for children, including the height of the toilet! Who knew one could be so excited over a new toilet! The American Standard Studio Flowise Toilet is not only the “Right Height” it is skinny and sleek and beautiful with the Concealed Tramway and elgonated shape.AND it’s water efficient so a money saver too. The installation was easy enough and I only had to assist my husband once so I’d say that’s a win!

Another easy DIY coming up this week will be to remove the existing boring white faux wood mini blind above the toilet and hang a bamboo roman shade from Wayfair. Our master bathroom reno is pretty much monochrome which can sometimes be very sterile and cold looking so I decided I wanted to add another layer of texture to warm it up and this roman shade is perfect. If you saw my week three update last week, I think you’ll agree my mirrors when they eventually get hung, add the perfect amount of warmth to the bathroom, along with this shade.

.Our beautiful light fixtures from Living Lighting Canada did arrive right before we left for Nashville so we are going to tackle those this week…nothing like living on the edge!

Fourteen days to go and still so much to do…now that the plumbing is done i’m breathing a little easier but the electrical may be tricky, even for my personal electrician. I’ll keep you posted!

What do you guys think of our bathroom reno so far? Leave me a comment and let me know! And in the meantime, head on over to the One Room Challenge home page and catch up with twenty featured designers and all of my fellow amazing guest participants. Inspo overload!!!
