MAKING THE MOST OF A SMALL ENTRYWAY WITH PAINT & ACCENT PIECES
A HUGE thank you to Behr Paint for sponsoring this post and this project! My favourable opinions of this amazing paint are all my own!.
Small entryways can be a challenge, especially when you need them to be functional while making a statement when someone walks through your front door. This was definitely the case in this house, small doesn’t begin to describe it but one thing I knew for certain, it needed colour!
Our entryway flows through to the main area of the house making it somewhat difficult to transition from one colour to the next. We have used BEHR MARQUEE® “Off White” through much of the main floor, including the hallway leading to our entryway. I decided to make the transition from light to dark on the main entrance wall and continue it up the stairs into the loft.
Of course I knew I wanted to keep things in the gray family, (shocking I know)! I picked up several paint chips at my local Home Depot, wanting to ensure my choice tied in well with both the ceramic tiles in the entryway as well as the wood risers on the stairs. I ended up choosing BEHR MARQUEE® “Wet Cement” and I absolutely love it. To my eye, it is a cross between dark grey and dark green, it is bold and rich, the perfect addition to my dark colour palette. We continued using the Eggshell finish which we know first hand to be super durable and easy to wipe clean, both important attributes for painting an entryway.
The trim, front door and side lights were all freshened up with two coats of BEHR MARQUEE® Ultra Pure White in a semi-gloss finish and I think the space has come together beautifully. The crisp white against the “Wet Cement” makes this small entryway look bold and fresh and it definitely makes a statement!
Keep following along, next week we are continuing this painting journey up into the loft!
