How To #SPRAYNEWLIFE Into an Abandoned Fire Pit

A HUGE thank you to Rustoleum Canada for sponsoring this post and this project!  My favourable opinions of these amazing products are all my own!

This outdoor fire pit was left for dead at the end of someone’s driveway so of course we stopped the truck, loaded her in and brought her back to our summer place, where campfires happen on a regular basis.  We promised her she was going to get a new look and a new life!

She was abandoned at the end of someone’s driveway!

Here is how we transformed this tired old fire pit from rusty to glamorous in less than two hours!

 MATERIALS:

-                sandpaper

-                gloves

-                rags & tack cloth

-                masking tape

-                craft paper or newspaper

-                Rustoleum High Heat Spray Paint

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

!           Sand rusty areas with sandpaper specific for use on metal until smooth

2.         Wipe the fire pit down with a lint free rag or tack cloth so it is free of metal debris from sanding

3.         Tape the insides of the fire pit doors and any open vents with newspaper or craft paper to ensure the paint or overspray does not get inside of the fire pit.

4.         Now get read to spray!

THIS WAS AFTER THE 1ST COAT OF PAINT

BEFORE….AND AFTER JUST ONE COAT

Two coats of paint gave this tired old firepot the perfect finish and not only has it become a conversation piece in our neighborhood up north, it looks brand new!

TWO COASTS OF PAINT….WOW!!

This is an easy DIY that ANYONE can tackle in two hours (incudinfg dry time).
