Vintage Inspired Guest Bath - One Room Challenge Reveal

My favourite week of the One Room Challenge is finally here! Not only do I get to share my entire space with you, we all get to see the amazing spaces created by my friends and fellow DIYers!

Now sit back and enjoy the ride...albeit a short one since this is a small, windowless 3 pieces bathroom but I’ve made sure it packs a punch!

Let’s look back at how far we’ve come shall we?

We removed the builder grade vanity, mirror and toilet - and not one to waste - we sold the entire set in a neighbourhood buy and sell group so it found a new home very quickly!

BEFORE….Builder Basic Blah!

The first order of business - which if you’ve followed me for awhile - was of course peel and stick wallpaper from Roommates Decor.. For this makeover I chose this gorgeous “Batik Jacobean” pattern in Blue and it is STUNNING! I had no idea how large the scale of the pattern was until it arrived and let’s just say I was pleasantly surprised! So much so that I immediately decided to not just wallpaper an accent wall, but to do ALL the walls in this tiny bathroom. Go BIG or stay home right?

Once the wallpaper was completed it was time to install our gorgeous new light fixture from our friends at LivingLIGHTING Canada. For this makeover we chose this gorgeous vanity light from the KICHLER Mid-Century Modern Jasper Collection. I was immediately drawn to this particular fixture while scrolling the LivingLIGHTING website - which isn’t easy to do when they have SO many gorgeous options. In this case, the vanity light we chose was the total package....from the Natural Brass Finish and the Frosted Shades to the lines and curve of this beaut, it checked all the boxes! And once it was installed against the bold, beautiful wallpaper, I knew it was a match made in heaven! Brass and navy blue are a timeless, classic combo that will never grow old. You can read more about this fixture in my week 3 update by clicking here.

LivingLIGHTING, Where Solutions Come To Light

Next up was the vanity that we somehow managed to move the into the house, from the garage, with no help, thanks to COVID. We used the old “blankets on the floor” trick and eventually got her in place! My hubby needed to see what would have to be done to plumb the new faucet in so getting her in ASAP was a must. This new vanity is by Foremost Canada, it’s called the Brantley Harbour Blue Vanity and you guys, if you haven’t been following along, I WON THIS VANITY back in December! It was the basis of my entire design plan for this room. I can’t say enough about the workmanship on this Foremost Canada vanity! It is constructed from solid wood, with soft closing doors, dovetail drawers with slow close glides, and comes with the gorgeous stone countertop, already attached, with predrilled holes for a Centre spread faucet. In fact the whole vanity comes assemble. It was packaged well to ensure no damage and is a definite 10/10 in my books! (You may recall I did spray out the hardware Vintage Gold!)

Some minimal plumbing was needed before we could install the gorgeous new Fluent Faucet by American Standard. We choice the Oil Rubbed Bronze finish this time to tie in with the brass light fixture, door hardware and other finishing touches. This Faucet and the finish are STUNNING! Although modern and top of the line, it flows nicely with the vintage vibe I’m going for (excuse the pun!) As always it was easy to install, the speed connect drain is such a great feature and we thrilled with this beautiful new faucet!

Next up was installing the new toilet...also a fave from American Standard Canada. This is the Studio Toilet and while it has many great features - like the soft closing lid and seat, quick release to remove the seat for cleaning, flowise rapid flush that basically cleans your toilet with every flush - but what we love the most is it is the “Right Height” and it has those gorgeous Concealed Traps! Can I get an AMEN from all the boys moms right now?🙌

Check out those Concealed Traps!

The bathroom door was painted black back in February along with all the other interior doors in our house and adding the Schlage Satin Brass Custom Interior Door Hardware was of course, another one of the best design decisions I made for this space. This hardware is modern but yet somehow feels vintage along with everything else in this bathroom.

And now for the rest of the finishing touches, my most favourites are this vintage rug from Worn and Woven and this gorgeous antique mirror I scored at my local flea market.

I am so happy my original rug plan fell through and I connected with Chantelle. Her vast selection of curated vintage rugs are gorgeous and Leo is no exception. The jewel tones complete this entire makeover.

And the antique mirror has become the focal point of this room, so much so that I decided to hang nothing else on this wall because it would only be competing and would never win! Sometimes you find the most beautiful treasures in unexpected places.

The shower hooks, towel bar, toilet paper holder from Liberty Hardware are all the most perfect subtle touches that bring this room together.

Another proud DIY makeover in the books! It may not look like a lot, but it was a big job! Especially the plumbing, it’s not our thing and my husband spent countless hours figuring out how to reconfigure the drain so it would work as it should. And doing all this without being able to go into a store was the biggest challenge at all! None of these projects would be possible without him so I have to give him and all the other One Room Challenge hubbies a hip hip hurray!

I would LOVE to hear what you think of our makeover and answer any questions. You can leave them in the comments below. And please be sure to check out the amazing makeovers but the Featured Designers and other Guest Participants in the Spring One Room Challenge - definitely one for the history books!

Thank you all for following along, from the bottom of my heart!
