Low Budget Deck Refresh
We had planned to extend our teeny tiny builder basic deck this year but a combo of our basement reno taking nine months and the current price of lumber, have put that project on hold. Normally we are up north at the lake all summer where we have a big beautiful deck, again, thanks to the global pandemic, lock downs and stay at home orders, we are staying home...for now.
We brought home 3 older pieces of outdoor furniture from up north last fall, with no real plans for them but now, with a budget of $250, I set out to turn this space into a tiny outdoor oasis.
If you have a budget you need to stick to, I highly recommend going directly to clearance sections when shopping...in this case Wayfair clearance was on my side! I managed to snag eight items for $250! I bought a pot of pansies at Costco for $12 and a beach umbrella for $10 on Facebook Marketplace.
I also picked a colour scheme based on what was available in clearance, this time it’s blue and yellow, who would have thunk it?!
I started out by weather proofing the two pillow covers I snagged on Wayfair with my go to Scotchguard Spray by 3M. You can basically turn any of your indoor pillows into outdoor pillows with this spray - linked in my Amazon shop for your convenience (click here).
Next I rolled out this super cute and durable indoor/outdoor rug and secured the solar powered string lights.
I repotted my Costco pansies into this cute rail pot and fluffed the throws - that came two in a pack - in the dryer.
I used some old throw pillows as inserts in the beautiful throw pillow covers, and added the cute tray with brass detailing.
I shopped my house for a vase and spray painted an old garden statue to tie it all together.
What do you think? I’m so happy with how it looks! The weather is warming up so until we can get to the lake, you’ll find me here, with a good book and the dogs - obviously Lucy has already claimed her spot!
If you want to recreate this look, download the Wayfair app and use the links below!
Outdoor living is more important now than ever and you don’t have to break the bank to refresh your space!
Thank you to Wayfair for sponsoring this post it, was the perfect project for me!
