What gives you that HYGGE feeling? Cozying Up for a Long Winters Nap!
You all know that I make my bed every damn day right? I know this to be true because any time I share a picture of our master bedroom it’s one of the most popular comments I get! Call me cray but I can’t start my day with an unmade bed. I’ve always made my kids do the same...even hubby makes the bed on the weekends if he’s the last one up and I give him props for always trying to arrange all the throw pillows just right!
Our master bedroom is very zen, light, airy and peaceful, the complete opposite vibe from the rest of our cozy little home (which is mostly dark and moody accent walls and colours). I do love it but sometimes wonder if a darker, cozier space would help me and my insomnia get a good nights sleep.
I’m all about cozy, especially in the winter and in case you’ve been living under a rock, HYGGE (pronounced hue-guh) is totally trending right now…and if you haven’t heard of it, basically it’s Danish for “comfy cozy”. I’m on a mission to bring that hyggee feeling into our master bedroom, i’m thinking along the lines of “long winters nap”!
What better place to start browsing for all things cozy bedroom related then Wayfair, especially during the ongoing Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales!
But first things first, as usual I like to take stock and work with what I have when I’m making over a room, and in the case of our master bedroom, the furniture of course will all remain status quo, my gray drapes and area rug are good starting points too. And while some feel hygge is all about bringing in “white”, that is not the case at all. It’s all about creating a “feeling” when you walk into a room, how it makes YOU feel, not how the internet tells you that you should decorate or should feel. (Always remember my mantra “you do you, I’ll do me).
After a few days and many hours of browsing wayfair.ca, here are a few of my favourite things:
(omg I feel like Oprah!)
What do you think? What would you do to give your bedroom that hygge feeling? Leave me a comment and let me know. And be sure to check back because this is going to be one of my final projects of the year, the grand finale and I can’t wait to get started!
Stay cozy!
