HYGEE MASTER BEDROOM
HYGGE - (hooga) - noun
a quality of coziness and comfort that brings upon a feeling of contentment or well-being
What better way to fight the January blahs than to create a hygge home. Hygge is more of a feeling than any specific thing and can really be whatever makes YOU feel cozy, warm and content. I love bringing hygge elements into our home, especially in the winter and especially into our bedroom. Who doesn’t want to be cozy and warm on a cold winters night?
We recently did a Hygge master bedroom makeover with our friends at Wayfair and it’s amazing how something as simple as changing out the bedding and the lamps brought our master bedroom from light and airy to cozy and warm.
This beautiful navy blue duvet cover with the gray tufted embroidery detail is the new focal point in our master bedroom and the gray cable knit throw is the perfect coordinating touch. The beautiful lamps pull the room together by adding one more layer of texture and the perfect amount of light to the space.
I also love to bring in some wooden accents when I am accessorizing for a hygge feel and these beautiful wooden candle holders add just the right amount of contrast and warmth.
You don’t have to break the bank to give a room a totally new look or feel. Like I always say, work with what you have, in this case the curtains, area rug and throw pillows were already parts of the room. I am never one to have everything perfectly “matchy matchy” (is that even a word?) so I love the various shades of blues and grays as well as the different textures in this room.
Doing something as simple as swapping out some art work and decor pieces on our shelf for some flameless candles also helps to give the room a totally different feel. And hey, unless it warms up soon, I plan on spending most of this cold and dark January right here!
Thank you Wayfair for helping me pull together a hygge feel in our master bedroom!
Michele
