The Little Green Room

The “little green room” as it seems to have been labelled, is quite possibly the cutest and coziest room in our house!

Painted “The Hammer” by Digby Paints

The smallest of the rooms in our newly finished basement, it has has been painted in the most beautifushade of green called “The Hammer” by Digby Paints.  If you aren’t familiar with Digby Paints they are Canada’s #1 Online Paint Store. Choose one of their 60 curated colours or have them colour match one of your faves. We painted the doors in the basement “Peppercorn” which is a Sherwin Williams colour and it was colour matched for us by Digby! Check them out and use “UNCLUTTERED10” to save!

All of our basement paint choices pair beautifully with our vinyl plank flooring but I especially love how it looks in the little green room. You may recall, we did install Dri-Core Subfloor in our basement and then installed this beautiful Rigid Core Vinyl Plank Flooring right over top of it. Our flooring is by Golden Select, our colour is “Tuscan Oak” and the best part? It’s available at Costco - both online and in store. I love this floor so much I would trade all of the hardwood, marble and ceramic on our main floor. Maybe one day….don’t tell my hubby!

Once the paint and flooring were in, Ioved the cozy vibe butI knew right away this room needed a light coloured accent wall, and naturally that meant peel and stick wallpaper.  The Deep Sea Toile pattern from Roommates Decor couldn’t be more perfect!!  It was an easy pattern to work with and match and I absolutely love it.  It added so much depth and character to this room!

Since we already had two twin mattresses from our previous home I decided to find two affordable and cute twin beds.  After shopping around I settled on the Sagstua bed frame in black from IKEA for both the look and the price.  As luck would have it, they were sold out.  But not one to give up easily, I started checking their website every few days and after 3 months, my diligence paid off and I hit pay dirt!  Easy to assembly and very durable, the Sagstua beds were the perfect choice.

Shopping for bedding happened during our second lockdown so I turned to online.  I knew I wanted light bedding that pulled in the green walls and I also wanted affordable.  I found these super cute comforter & sham sets at Simons....”these Drawn Foliage” we’re $49.95 , can’t beat it!  The green throws at the end of the bed also came from IKEA, they are the “Oddrun” in Dark Green and were super affordable at $16.95.  The pink pillow covers and white furry throws I already had...so I shopped my house!  How cute do these beds look? The little brass accents on the head and foot boards are so perfect!

The vintage night tables we’re salvaged and up cycled by my friends at Simple Love Furniture and I couldn’t love them more!  You will find lots of Simple Love pieces in my home, I love that Marla and Chris save these pieces from our landfills and bring them back to life.  If you are looking for a certain piece or have a piece that needs some repair and a makeover, send them a message, I bet they can help!

Finishing touches are always fun and can make or break a space! Take these vintage inspired pink lamps.  These came from Homesense...I spotted them on a Wednesday and left them behind.  They haunted me for days...on the following Tuesday I decided to go back and see if they were there, if so I knew they were meant for me.

The matte black custom door hardware from our friends at Schlage looks STUNNING on our Peppercorn doors. We are long time fans of Schlage hardware, easy to install and I love how we can customize each piece to suit our style. For the basement we chose the Plymouth Knob with Camelot Trim. I love the Modern Rustic vibe!

The brass Convexa mirrors from Umbra are the perfect accent pieces for this room too!  I love the panoramic view, it adds so much depth to this small scale room and the brass frames help tie everything together.

Thanks to duct work the ceilings in this room are a bit lower then the other rooms so we needed a small scale light fixture. We have been working with our friends at Globe Electric in our basement bedrooms and the Tatum light fixture by Globe Electric is perfect..  We paired it with a Globe Smart Bulb which enables us to brighten the bulb while keeping it warm, all through the Globe Suite app!

The vintage inspired rug from CC Bazaar at Improve Canada definitely pulled the entire space together. You can check out a previous blog post where I talk about how a rug is my go to for decorating any space.

We are big fan of Maps over here and my plan is to slowly incorporate framed pieces of maps of places that are special to us and our family.  Making it a room full of memories.

Now can we just get back to regular life so this guest room is full every weekend, nothing would make us happier!
