Smart, Beautiful & Functional ~ Schlage Connect Smart Locks

We recently moved into a new to us home that has three exterior doors. That’s a lot of doors for a small house, especially for someone like me who is convinced someone is going to break into our house…I know, I watch too many true crime documentaries!
We had installed a Schlage Electronic Lock at our last home and it was a game changer for us so we knew without a doubt we wanted to install them here too.
Thanks to our friends at Schlage Canada our new home is now outfitted with three beautiful Schlage Connect Smart Locks…. in matte black no less. Can I just say that beyond their functionality, they look stunning against our red exterior doors.

Schlage Connect Smart Lock with Broadway Lever
Aside from upping our curb appeal, one of my most favourite things about these Smart Locks is walking the dog and not having to bring house keys. Can I get an amen? Or how about not being woken up at midnight when your grown up-ish kids forget their house keys? Give me a double tap for that!
And I’m just getting started.
The cleaning lady has her code specific to her, we’ve recently had some work done in the house and knowing I was going to be out on one of these days, we made a code for that.
When we listed and sold our last house, we made a code specific for realtors showing the house, no more lock boxes and looking for spare keys.
Maybe you’re worried they are hard to install? NOT. AT. ALL. We actually did our first ever video tutorial installing a Schlage Connect Smart Lock and i’ve saved it in our Instagram Highlights (just click here). All we needed was a screw driver. Keep in mind if your doors are off kilter you may need to do a little work with a chisel to line things up and install the strike plate appropriately, otherwise the instructions are SO user friendly, the greenest of DIYers can do it.
And now the icing on the cake, especially for my techie gadget loving hubby is, our new Schlage Connect Smart Locks work with Alexa. BAM! All you need is the Alexa app on your smart phone or tablet and it’s so easy to set up! We say “Alexa, lock the back door” and she ALWAYS does what she’s told. She will lock as many doors as you have smart locks on, it’s just a matter of naming them all through the app and you can call them whatever you want!
Another great feature is being able to use Alexa when you are away from home and are worried one of your kids forgot to lock the door. We’ve all been there right? Not only will Alexa check for you, if there is an unlocked door, she’s got your back and will lock those unlocked doors! I mean c’mon, what’s stopping you from getting one for your own home?
We have these locks on all of our exterior doors….it’s truly For Knox over here!
We opted for the beautiful matte black “Century” handle on our front door and absolutely love the clean lines, the modern rustic vibe. It is functional yet dramatic. On the back doors we opted for lever style handles called “Broadway” because let’s face it, who doesn’t try to carry ALL the bags and bins into the house in one trip? I can use Alexa to unlock the door and then open it with my elbow…no hands needed!

I am big into home safety, we use a security system and I am a “always check three times that all the doors and windows are locked” kinda girl. The Schlage Connect Smart Locks are the answer to my prayers. As we are heading to bed, to ease my anxiety ridden mind about unlocked doors, all we do is say “Alexa, Goodnight” and she makes sure all three of our doors are locked.
Once again we are safe and sound with Schlage.
