Here We Go Again - Our 2nd One Room Challenge
Since we LOVE keeping busy (insert sarcastic look from my hubby here), we went ahead and signed up for the Spring One Room Challenge. What could we possibly be renovating in a brand spanking new home that we have only lived in for 5 months you may be wondering? Well it all started with me winning a “12 Days of Giveaways” Christmas Contest hosted by the lovely Kortney Wilson on Instagram. So like I keep telling my hubby, if he wants to “blame” someone, he should blame Kortney!
So thanks to that fantastic prize, we are tackling our small but functional guest bathroom. It is definitely not as big of an undertaking as our master bathroom reno was back in the fall, (that could of ended so badly!) but it’s still big enough. Murphys Law is always working against us over here so naturally we have to rejig some plumbing for the faucet. And by rejig, I mean RE-FRICKING-JIG. Only to be made even more difficult by not being able to speak to the plumbing experts, like Joe, at our local Home Depot, relying solely on You Tube and curbside pickup, praying we’ve chosen exactly what we need because we can’t run back to Home Depot 3x’s in one day!
Here is a photo of the “after” of the Fall One Room Challenge we tackled - a huge overhaul of another builder grade bathroom. It was SOOOO much work but totally worth it in the end!
And since them we have moved to a new house and will be tackling the guest bathroom pictured below!
Back to the giveaway and what did we win you may be wondering? We won this beautiful vanity/mirror/medicine cabinet combo from Foremost Canada - it’s called the “Brantley - Harbour Blue” model. The vanity is a titch bigger than the original builder grade vanity, it has a nice big drawer, under cabinet storage, a stone countertop and it’s absolutely perfect for the space. We are however opting NOT to use the mirror and medicine cabinet in this particular reno, but not to worry, they will be used in our basement reno coming later this year.
This vanity of course was the foundation of my mood board and once I have a jumping off point I go full steam ahead with my planning and scheming. We have been blessed to be once again, working with a phenomenal line up of our most favourite Brands, who are supplying us with all these amazing products…:
the Cadet toilet (similar to the one used in our last bathroom reno and made famous thanks to those concealed traps!) and Fluent centrespread faucet from American Standard
the gorgeous Kichler light fixture from Living Lighting Canada
the stunning “Jacobean” print peel and stick wallpaper from Roommates Decor
gorgeous Satin Brass custom interior door hardware from Schlage Canada
Some gorgeous brass accessories from Liberty Hardware (towel bar, toilet roll holder, towel hooks)
a gorgeous vintage runner from Worn and Woven
a handmade vintage inspired picture ledge from Primrose Living
This time around I am mixing metals - my new fave thing- and going for a vintage vibe in this bathroom makeover. I found the most GORGEOUS antique brass mirror at my local flea market that is going to be the icing on the cake!
Thanks for checking in and following along on this crazy ride and thanks to the One Room Challenge peeps for keeping things going during a world wide pandemic. For DIYers like me, this challenge is keeping me sane.
Be sure to head to the website and check out ALL the featured designers AND all the other DIY loving guest participants like me. We are all so different but share the same passion!
Let’s get this party started!
